Erin Hovendon commits to run at MIT

The Carolina Day School community held a ceremony on Monday, May 16 to celebrate senior Erin Hovendon, who will pursue the sports of track and cross country at the college level. Hovendon signed her national letter of intent with the Engineers, Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s intercollegiate sports team.

At the ceremony, after providing an extensive list of Hovendon’s athletic accomplishments, track coach Brian Rannie remarked, “If any of you are runners out there, you understand the commitment, the grit and the internal motivation needed to perform at such a high level. Erin embodies these characteristics, balancing two sports—sometimes three—along with outstanding performance in the classroom, not to mention being a friend to many and an active volunteer in the CDS community.”
